You have every qualification to write a Yorkshire song, not least being an excellent songwriter. Some of the world's best songs are about places the writer has never been to. I write songs about the trawling industry. I've never been to sea on a trawler but I've read lots of books and talked to people who have. Added to that is the fact sometimes a newcomer's perspective is desirable.
