I'm trying to track down a short story I vaguely remember from a 'reader' when I was in elementary school: Caruso and the narrator's father were friends; the father went to the recording studio and Caruso greeted him, which greeting inadvertently went onto the first recording - this record was given to the father, and a new recording done; the one-of-a-kind record becomes valuable; the family argues over whether or not to sell it; the narrator smashes the record.
