According to Baez he didn't even remember writing "Farewell Angelina" until she reminded him. She said she sat beside him as he churned the lyric out on his typewriter. He went through it several times then just threw the lyric sheet away. She thought "well if you are not going to use it then I am" and she recorded it herself. He later said "that is quite a good song - where did you get it" to which she said something like "you wrote it - you idiot"
