I wanted to share that my grandmother used to sing us a similar song when we were young. I am not sure where her version came from but she would tell me it came from the streets of Brooklyn NY when she was little - So 1930's. She is now 95 years old but this was the song we would hear when we were misbehaving, she also used to sing it to my mother and her siblings when they were young:
