The song, Written in Our Eyes, by Charlie Madigan mentions children being hungry in the second verse. The song was also about the custom of photographing the guest of honor at funerals. It was inspired by the book Wisconsin Death Trips which had photo of people who died on flu in Black River Falls, Wisconsin in the 19th century.
