Thread Name: How many Mudcats have cats!?
Subject: RE: How many Mudcats have cats!?
Cats being partly high strung, cunning and paradoxicly sleepy makes them fine comedians imo. In fact early 1900 animation featured cats most often, not the mouse. Felix came first and Sylvester later. Felix refined cartoon animation technically and in story line. They were the cat videos of that era. Many cartoon cats are gone but not forgotten:

Marie

Kiara
Daughter of Simba and Nala, she spends her days playing around Pride Rock. When trying to hunt on her own, she fails miserably yet was still determined to continue. She has a stubborn streak a mile wide and disapproves of her father constantly sending people to spy on her. It only leads to more rebellion as he continues to do so after promising not to. Despite the bratty, inconsequential manner she has at times, she is kind-hearted and easily befriends Kovu when cubs. When reunited as young adults, he criticizes her hunting skills and she dares him to teach her how to do better, which leads to their friendship blossoming into romance.

Kovu
Youngest of Zira's three children and hand chosen by Scar to be his successor, he was just a baby when Simba banished Scar's pride to the Outlands, but was raised to believe that Simba was their enemy. He had a brief childhood friendship with Kiara, and then his training intensified until he was a young adult. Zira's plan was for him to "rescue" Kiara, earn Simba's trust, and then kill him when they were alone. Once in the pride, he teaches Kiara some hunting tricks and their friendship blossoms into romance.

She had faithfully followed Scar during his rule and believes that he had the right to the throne. Mother of three: Nuka, Vitani, and Kovu, she shows no gentleness or motherly regard. They have grown up in a barren wasteland, always hungry, and fighting for survival. She uses Kovu's budding friendship with Kiara as a pawn to move him into Simba's Pride and attack, and even threatens to kill Vitani for not following her orders. Only as Nuka lays dying does she show a moment of softness, regret, and then instantly hardens and blames it on Kovu.

As a cub she was undersized with a slightly larger head, mainly due to lack of food and water. Having a brash and vicious personality with a mocking attitude, she easily outwits her older brother Nuka, and goes toe-to-toe with Kovu. At the climatic battle at Pride Rock, she realizes enough is enough and there is no more need for bloodshed. She is the first to step away from her mother and join the Pridelanders, at which Zira says she can die as well, and that turns all the rest of her pride away from her.

Arlene
Arlene is Garfield's on-and-off girlfriend who can successfully crack jokes at the expense of Garfield regularly. She is a slim, sleek, long-tailed, pink-furred cat, with a narrow neck and big red lips, which seems to be the only one of its kind living in the world. Earlier in the strip run, she also had a big gap between her two front teeth. In the cartoon, she has three fingers (including thumb) as Odie, but in CGI movies & The Garfield Show, she has four fingers. Since 2007, Garfield and Arlene's relationship has become a bit more serious than before.

Nuka
The oldest son of Zira, flea bitten and scrawny, Nuka holds a grudge against Kovu for being Scar's chosen predecessor. Despite being thin and malnourished, he is lithe and has enough strength to hold down Simba during an ambush attack. He's always wanting his mother's approval, going to great lengths to earn a word of praise. It goes to fog his common sense as he declares Kovu a traitor without waiting for his mother's explanation. He bullied his younger siblings as they were cubs since he was born during Scar's reign and overlooked by him. His dying words to his mother were more like an apology, yet still thirsty for attention.
