I can't find out for sure but I think "entry" meant a narrow gap between houses, fit only for one pedestrian at a time. Your bins would be at the bottom end of it. The gap that led to your back passage ;-) I'm talking Salford/Whitefield/Prestwich/Radcliffe here... But I love variants!
