I'm having reasonable success. Only 3 words have taken the whole 6 attempts, in the first 18 (Favor, Proxy & Gorge). Spotting double letters caused the problem with 'Gorge' and the US spelling with 'Favor'

Unless I get a lot of information on the first attempt I try a different set of letters on the second (Often using Train followed by Demob).

Unless you've already got enough info to make an informed guess, ignore the green letter, you know what it is, and where it must go, don't re-use it until you're ready to make a reasoned guess. It's not going to move, and it allows you to eliminate another unused letter.
