I don't know that we have gone anywhere, those still around. A bigger worry is where are they coming from.

My kids, now in their 30's and 40's, followed my example and listened to everything they could. They became fascinated with Stan Rogers and from there discovered the Corrie Folk Trio, Capercaillie, Old Blind Dogs.   A few listens to my Sons of The Pioneers recordings and they learned about Western Swing and then because of the violin and guitar as played by Hugh and Karl Farr discovered Django and Stephane. Kids follow example and if the path they follow isn't exactly your path it is a path into appreciation. Appreciation becomes study and performance. My kids are going a good direction... I wonder about others tho'.
