Thread Name: Bardcore - modern music to Mediaeval
Subject: Bardcore - modern music to Mediaeval
Yesterday a few of my family went to a theatre adaptation of Terry Pratchett's book The Wyrd Sisters.

It was well done, interesting, enjoyable. But one of the best things about the performance, in my opinion, was the use of music tracks at various points within the play, and at intermission etc which were Mediaeval remakes of modern music tracks. I now know that this is referred to as Bardcore and after looking at YouTube I have found hundreds of tracks which various people have reinterpreted in this genre.

As an example of that search, here is a folk-related track:

Fairytale of New York - Medieval Bardcore Version

Most of the tracks used for the play were recent, e.g. Hit Me Baby by Britney Spears, Rehab by Amy Winehouse, Someone I Used to Know by Gotye, and Dance Monkey by a performer called Tones & I.

Very clever.

Some of the examples on the YouTube list don't seem to "get" Mediaeval music but some definitely do get it.
