Yes Dave this nonsense started with Trump. McCarthy the speaker of the house was heard asking over a hot mike "what are all these Russains doing over here all of a sudden?" Later on he was clued in and is going along with Trump. This does not mean the entire Republican party will go along with Trump's dream to share Russain oil fortunes etc. but it is an extreme wingnut branch of the party.
