It's my bloody good luck to have been exactly the right age to follow the Beatles right through from Love Me Do to their demise at the end of the Sixties, from callow teenybopper in 1962 to pipe-smoking rock aficionado at 18 (pretentious, moi?). I bought every Beatles record on the morning it came out. Singles were 6/8d and LPs were £1.12s. I think that Paul will still be being talked about in a hundred years' time and I think that the mighty Beethoven would have absolutely LOVED the Beatles, especially Paul with his lyrical streak. Ye gods, I'm loving all the current retrospectives. I'd love to call it a jubilee, but maybe not right now...
