PS One amusing incident that eptomises Greek philoxenia (hospitality).
We shared a car hire with our two friends and after lunch at another village at our usual taverna there, we were driving away when the man from the taverna, who had taken the rubbish away in his truck, flashed us to stop. We thought something was wrong with the car. He asked us to wait. We were next to his house, he went in and brought out a bag with about a kilo of cucumbers from his garden! This was rather a lot as we only make the occasional lunch in our apartments but we were able to pass the surplus on to friends later.
