Hubby & I drove 3.5 hours up the coast a couple of weeks ago to see his Mother in a retirement village, although now she is in the nursing home section. We could only visit her for an hour. I haven't seen her since COVID began because there was a limit of one visitor and she was a lot more "with it" the last time I saw her. She was also walking around using her walking frame last time. This time she was immobilised in a large movable chair which the nurses operated.

So a total of seven hours driving there and back and an overnight stay at a hotel and she doesn't even remember that we were there. She has now been diagnosed with COVID but she would be up to date on her vaccinations so hopefully it won't be a severe case.

It makes me want to ask, "why is the news so wearying right now?"
