I loved his voice. The range on Rhinestone Cowboy proves just how good a singer he was. His guitar playing could be magnificent when he wanted to and his repertoire was broad and included some well-known Folk songs. i.e. Bradley Kincaid's version of Barbara Allen. He had stage charisma and professionalism that made him a joy to watch. I do not think we saw all he was capable of performing. He had a great ear for good songs and certainly helped to put Jimmy Webb's songs out to a wider public.
I would love to have heard him in concert on his own with an acoustic guitar. I am a great believer that performance skills transcend musical mediums, and a good singer and performer will always inspire others, what so ever the song.
