I have an original copy from long ago that I've used for many years with my 4th grade general music class during black history month.

The history of the song that I have is that it is a Traditional African American Game Song as performed by the Georgia Sea Island Singers. It was one of many songs performed by Frankie and Doug Quimby. At the time, they were the two remaining members of the Georgia Sea Island Singers, a group formed to preserve the Gullah culture of three isolated islands. The Quimby's traveled around the country, sharing the chants, work songs, stories and spirituals their ancestor used to survive slavery. Since enslaved Africans had limited access to musical instruments, the Quimby's sang a capella or accompanied only by rhythm instruments, such as the tambourine.
