I do not know if this is a good suggestion, but i would check out heat treatment such as use of a hair dryer

It seems slightly odd to me that both cold and heat are recommended for arthritis, but i suppose if you knew the exact cause of the problem, a correct remedy would be easier to get right.
at the moment we do not know what is causing the pain, Tens machines are good pain killers in my experience
