Living in the South (capital S) I've learned a few terms. Like "bless her heart" being just the opposite of what it sounds like. And "hot mess" as a way to describe something that is too awful to spend much time on. Trump is a hot mess. So was Johnson. I have an idea that it refers to something like offal - the steaming insides of an eviscerated animal. My interpretation. :)
