Thread Name: Article on Morris Dance Revival
Subject: RE: Article on Morris Dance Revival
For them, Morris is appealing precisely because it looks back to a preindustrial time, largely untainted by England’s sticky colonial legacy. “Young people are casting around looking for a way to comfortably engage with their nation,” Moss said. “Morris and the folk scene offers so many opportunities to do this.” quote
My experience, is that it appealed tp people because they enjoyed dancing and socialising,
the quote suggests that young people were backward looking,[unlikely] the suggestion that it had anything to do with colonialism or the lack of it is puzzling.
