BBC is the national TV station, owned by the government and funded by TV licence fees so ad free. ITV is independent and funded by advertising revenue so was the first alternative to the BBC. There are now others such as channel 4 and channel 5 which encompass a whole gamut of other independent channels. Sky and Sky news is owned by Rupert Murdoch and while it is not as biased as Fox, I would be careful of any editorial comment from them.
