I was also amused to see Ben Houchen, the Tory Mayor of Tees Valley, was re-elected following a campaign in which he distanced himself from his Party, not even wearing the blue Tory rosette. He continued to eschew the wearing of the rosette at the result-announcement and, when he was later joined by Sunak and congratulated on his win, his body-language spoke volumes about his contempt for his leader and the performance of the government.
