in those days the club was held in the Swindon communist party building, Paul Simon sent Ted a letter saying that he was unable to do the gig because of where the folk club was held, in the letter he explained that because of the remains of McCarthyism if he did the gig in the communist party building, it would make it difficult FOR HIM to get work in the USA
