I've only just seen this thread and must comment on > In the 60's there were folk clubs in and around London run by Scots and Pseudo Scots, yet apart from one, (guess which) not that many Scots songs were sung, apart from the obligatory Wild Mountain Thyme, and some folks though that was Irish :) <
It surely is Irish, being a McPeake re-write of Braes of Balquidder, as discussed elsewhere on Mudcat.
