Brings to mind, many years ago, at a picnic, friends had a quite new baby that was really fretful, couldn't get it to stop crying. I took it, rocked it carefully but vigourously, and sang:

"I used to work in Chicago
At a department store,
I used to work in Chicago,
I did, but I don't no more.

A lady came in for a house dress,
I asked her what kind she wore.
'Jumper,'she said.
Jump 'er I did!
I'll never go there any more!

Kid calmed down and went right to sleep.
