I don't know where the doggone bat hid all day long, we both scoured that room top to bottom, looked under and behind everything.
It waited til I was in bed with lights out trying to sleep to start moving around. Thought maybe there was a mouse, got up to look around, and the bat was on the floor under my headboard. Called the neighbor, he was 4 hours away, so I was on my own. It flew crazily into the bathroom.
Went outside in my jammies and pried the screen off the bathroom window, opened it. Waited, but nothing flew out. Waited. Back inside, couldn't see it, nope, there it was, clinging to the wall by my closed bedroom door, itching to get back in, and this time looking like it might fly right at me.
Threw a heavy robe over myself, dashed into the bedroom, closed the door and barricaded the crack at the bottom of it. Then realized the house lights were on and every bug in the county would be flying inside. Luckily the breaker panel was in the bedroom closet so I turned off the lights.
I heard it making noises twice in the night. I hope the second set of noises was it radar-ing around and finding the small open window. But who knows. I wonder if it is sick and decided this would be a good cave to die in. I know that bedroom door will be closed at all times until this is over, because if there is anything more scary and unnerving than a visit from a bat at 10 pm I don't know what it is.
