The "Hot Asphalt" tune was first published in Glasgow in Kerr's Merry Melodies for the Violin (volume 1, p49) in 1880 simply titled "March" and mixed in with a bunch of Highland tunes. It's not Irish and has nothing to do with Bonaparte.
