My childhood allotment memories were altogether different.

I was 6 years old, and dug up veg in an allotment. Taking it to a door, I asked "Buy some vegetables, mister?" "Arr boy, they look good 'uns!"

It soon came to light that the man had bought his own veg for half a crown!

I had to give the money back and was given the slipper by my mum.

The good old days!
