When I think of "Great" I picture myself in the middle of no where. I walk up to the first native I see and ask that question. Write down his answer, then on to another out of the way place, and so on. After visiting about 100 countries I would add up the score for each guitarist. Somehow I have trouble seeing Chet Atkins as the winner in, say, Chad. Great means well known all over, not just where we live, nor does it have anything to do with our opinion.
