"Better Times Are Coming" was written by Foster in 1862 along with many other songs. He cranked out several in '63 and '64 too. Then just one or two each year until his last one appears to be "Kiss Me Dear Mother Ere I Die" written in '69. So "Better Times ..." is not one of his last. He still had a few more in 'im.
