If I were you, I would also do something like triple-wrap the whole case in plastic garbage bags inside the waterproof canoe bag. They are great to guard against splashes, but the inexpensive REI bag that I have was not sufficient to keep my lunch dry on a rafting trip that involved super-soakers and other squirt guns. That's probably overkill, but better a whole lot of plastic bags and a dry fiddle.
