I was brought up in a family that always sang at parties, both my parents had lots of siblings and I had lots of cousins so my imperfections were masked in the crowd and I learned a lot of songs.
I still have some reel-to-reel tapes of me singing to the pianola with my parents that I'm offering the Government as the ultimate deterrent to scare off invaders.
Herself is even more modest about her singing than I am (and I have a lot to be modest about!) and doesn't even join in when I'm making a fool of myself in a Greek taverna,(usually her cue to decide to go to bed!) though we sing together a lot in the car. Her participation in Greek dancing, however,is much in demand whereas I have thio podia aristera (but at least I've never danced on the bar top as I often reminder her).
