Thread Name: Lyr Add: When Irish Eyes Are Smiling
Subject: Lyr Add: WHISKEY IN THE JAR
V1: As I was going over, the far famed Kerry mountains,
I met with Captain Farrel, and his money he was counting;
I first produced my pistol, and then produced my rapier,
Saying "Stand and deliver, for you are a bold deceiver".

V2: I counted out his money, and it made a pretty penny,
I put it in my pocket, and I took it home to Jenny;
She sighed and she swore that she never would deceive me,
But Devil take the woman for they never can be easy.

V3: I went into my chamber, for to take a slumber,
Dreamt of gold and jewels, and sure it was no wonder;
But Jenny she stole me charges, and filled them up with water,
And sent for Captain Farrel to be ready for the slaughter.

V4: 'Twas early in the morning, before I rose to travel,
Up came a band of footmen, and likewise Captain Farrel;
I then produced my pistol for she stole away my rapier,
But couldn't shoot the water, so a prisoner I was taken.

V5: If anyone can aid me, 'tis my brother in the army,
Whether he be stationed in Cork or in Killarney;
Once more we'll go roving, o'er the foothills of Kilkenny,
I'm sure he'll treat me better than me darlin' sporting Jenny.
