I'm another ex-Londoner (sort of — I went to U. of Western Ont. briefly) and I too haven't kept up with what's going on in the area, but I have a couple of generic suggestions.

SianWW's suggestion of checking with local music stores is a good one, but she should also check out the UWO campus and the local community college (Fanshawe?) to see if there are any folk clubs on campus. Also check out any free-standing folk or bluegrass clubs.

If your daughter has transportation, she might also check out the scene in Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo and Windsor — all within an hour or two's drive. I'm in Windsor now and we have a number of bars and clubs in the city and surrounding Essex County where the music is available. I'm involved with the local folk society and there is a similar group in Leamington (about 35 miles SE of here) and the Essex Country Bluegrass and Old-Time Music Association. If she's interested in travelling that far, send me a PM and I'll chase down some contact info on the latter two organizations for you.

cheers,

david
