To answer my own question,

I went over to see him at the weekend. He is relatively hale but is having trouble remembering words. He will start out to say something and stop about three or four words into the sentence. He can respond to music and will sing along with chorus and some old favourites. It will probably be a long haul before he recovers tho.

Moves are afoot to move him down to wales so he can be nearer family but that largely depends on availibility of therapists and so on
