Just wondering what others have done (or do) to get by when music is all you want to do,but you're temporarily broke.

In the beginning whenever I wanted a decent meal (and was broke) I'd throw on a suit and tie, and crash Bar Mitzvahs, Weddings, and even corporate events. I'd find out the name of the function off of the roster at the venue location, walk in like I had every right to be there, hit the bar for a few free drinks, shake hands with a few people and b.s. them that I was a friend of whoever's; then head back into the kitchen or service area and tell the staff I was with the band, and could they fetch me something to eat, as I was on a short break. Worked like a charm. This was however many years ago and I only needed to subsist this way for a few months. Then things got better.

(Not, The Talented Mr. Ripley however.)

Anyone else got any good stories?
