Just an aside----Back in the 60s, the main symbl for the Old Town Folklore Center in Chicago (the retail store for the Old Town School Of Folk Music) was a round mechanical part for some sort of device with spikes all around it. It did look something like a kid's drawing of the sun with rays emanating from it.
In actuality, it was a PICK WHEEL FROM A MANURE SPREADER!
What better item to be the logo for an institution spreading songs via the oral tradition---ie. folk music. Back then we ABSOLUTELY KNEW that traditional songs, ie. ones in the oral tradition, were the ONLY real folksongs! All else was "fake music".
(Boy, I do enjoy raising this red herring every 6 months or so!!! It'll never be settled, but it's sure fun to lurk and watch the gory fight.)
Art (for those who know the truth...)
