DougR: there's a big difference preventing a killing by making a killing, and avenging a killing by making a killing.

In the first, one person is going to die. The question is which? The murderer, or his intended victim?

In the second, the victim is already dead, and killing the murderer doesn't change that.

The two examples are WORLDS apart.
