By the way, the origin of "macaronic" seems to stem from a mediaeval Italian practioner called Teofilo Folengo who likened this form of verse to macaroni. I don't think it really matters so long as we all know what we're talking about. Philippa, you mentioned a Scots Gaelic song about a Highlander in Glasgow. This sounds exactly what I'm looking for.
