David Jones to appear in New York City on July 19, 2001, at 8 PM.

Noted traditional singer in New York Pinewoods "Folk Off-Broadway" summer concert at Seamen's Church Institute.

Concert to feature songs of the British Isles and North America.

Traditional folksinger David Jones will appear in concert at the Seamen's Church Institute, 241 Water Street in Lower Manhattan, on Thursday evening, July 19, 2001, as part of the New York Pinewoods Folk Music Club's "Folk Off-Broadway" concert series. This specially added summer show will take place in the Seafarers' Club on the 2nd floor and will begin at 8 PM sharp. General admission is $10. New York Pinewoods members pay only $9. Light refreshments will be available.

David Jones has an enormous repertoire of songs from both sides of the Atlantic. He has performed throughout his native Great Britain and throughout North America at festivals, clubs, and colleges, singing songs from the era of the tall sailing ships, English music hall favorites, traditional ballads, and the works of contemporary composers who write in traditional style. He sings both a capella and with guitar or concertina accompaniment, and he involves his audience in refrains and choruses ranging from boisterous to sentimental.

The Seamen's Church Institute is located just a short walk north of the South Street Seaport Museum. The nearest subway stops are Broadway-Nassau on the A and C lines, and Fulton Street on the 2 and 3 lines.
