He wasn't elected by his conscience. He was elected by republicans. Anyway, Goldwater has a monoply on that line.

It doesn't bother me if he votes his conscience anyway. But if his conscience reflects the democratic agenda, rather than the party that elected him, then he should become a democrat. I would have no problem with that either.
