This is a serious question.

I'm not religious, although I have been in the past, and I'm fairly widely read on religious topics.

Depending on which religious belief you hold, the fate of your soul after death differs. Almost all religions suggest some future, many of which last for eternity.

Personally, I don't want eternity. When I die I (obviously) don't want to burn in hell, but I'm not too keen on 'heaven' or 'nivarna' either.

When death comes, I just want to die and go to sleep.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to die just yet, or for many years to come.

The thought of rebirth or eternal struggle or indeed eternal Christian happiness just don't appeal. If God loves me, I should at least be given a choice of being just dead.

Any thoughts?
