Luton, Bedfordshire.Name comes from the Saxon for Lea Town (the river Lea runs through it). Population is a bit of a mix as immigrants have been arriving for hundreds of years. Scots and Irish initially as the town became the centre of the world's hat industry and then Vauxhall Motors too. After WWII more people arrived from Asia and the Carribean as well as large numbers from London as the town thrived.
We don't make hats anymore. We don't make cars anymore (thanks GM, you bastards).
