Bide a while, great song. One which I still perform with great joy.

BIDE A WHILE
(Tom Yates)

1. The day's full end has rounded out
And ends the working light
And i would have all round about
The friendship of this night... To

CHORUS: Bide a while. Bide a while.
Sit you down by me
Bide a while, a while. Bide a while
In friendly company.

2. Abide with us an hour to pass
Before you think to part
Allow the landlord fill your glass
And friendship fill your heart... And [CHORUS]

3. Use up the time you have to spend
With kinsmen you well know
So pull aside a chair and lend
The time before you go... To [CHORUS]

4. Come one come all the parting toast
Is raised in fond refrain
No matter who should play the host
We'll bide a while again... So [CHORUS]

Hope you have much fun with it, I'm off to raise a pint for Tom, wish I'd learn the songs of Middle Earth he wrote, one's I've just snatches of like "if I had a boat like Manana, or the wings of the dadana" or that's what my dim memory tells me.

Tom must have returned from London cos he played the club I ran at The Red Lion Patricroft in 1980.
