I spent my childhood living in Macclesfield, Cheshire, Alderley Edge is just a few miles out, it is a wonderful place to visit with a view from the edge to die for! There is a well called the wizards well, where you will find carved 'drink of this and take thy fill for the water falls at the wizards will' The Alan Garner book, I cannot recommend enough, it is fantastic, and gives a real good geographical account of the outlying land.
