Subject: Roll & Go - They're Hot!
'Mudge and I (Jeri, too) went to the Roll & Go concert at the Wells, ME Historical Society last night. What fun! Oh sure, it could have been better if we'd have had blocks of ice to sit on or if the flexiglassed shut windows could have been opened to let in some outside air into the historic building (the original was burned by Indians in 1692), but watching, listening and joining our voices with this professional, well-organized and polished (but relaxed) group on stage was a joy. I really want to know how they all managed to not sweat as much as the audience, despite an interior temperature close to 100!

They know their material well, tie it into local maritime history and educate their listeners in a highly entertaining way, interacting with even the youngest listeners (who even got a pre-concert lesson in playing bones). Their retertoire is diverse and includes not only songs and shanties most people are familiar with, but less well known material and great humor as well.

The group's members are comfortable with themselves and relaxed with the audience and it shows. The concert went by too quickly despite the heat -- we focussed on their performance and not the temperature and our own discomfort.

Good show, guys! And everybody else, catch them if you can!

(No, Naemanson and Charley did NOT pay me to write this!)
