Apparently we left no surivivors at our concert at the Chocolate Church last night, at least none that have energy left to report; maybe Turtle will provide an objective report. However, I know there are some folks out there in Mudcatland that are eager for any crumbs so I'll unabashedly shovel out some of my own.

I have this curious recurring vision of working my way through the tragic tale of the sinking of the Kasii Maru (do your own thread search for "Cowardly Act" ;-)) with this stuffed cow being hurled back and forth between members of the audiance and members of my band. Have they no shame? Well, I guess you had to have been there...Which reminds me that our next appearance (unless we're banned) will be next weekend at the Maine Festival(www.mainearts.org), two sets Friday and Saturday, and another on Sunday, with hardly a song repeated although we do respond positively to physical threats of violence.

We really had a great audiance last night, about 40, in a small hall, no sound system to mess with, and we also had a lot of fun enjoying Castlebay's half of the concert. Fred Gosbie and Julia Lane write some beautiful ballads, as well as some enormously funny ones. Fred got to introduce us to his new Appolonio 12-string guitar and we also got to admire the harp that Fred made for Julia. Naemonsoon was still in good voice in spite of blatant attempts at The Press Room to provoke him to further vocal acrobatics (happy birthday, Brett, by the way if you've not too modest to read this). Norris stunned most of us with his "Lenore/Forevermore" alternative verse (suggested by Jeri) in "All for Me Grog." Jennifer and Eli did a lovely rendition of "Shallow Brown" and I even got to sing about the dismasting of the tall ship Lady Washington by that imfamous railroad bridge. It's rare that we get an audiance so willing to sing along but maybe it helps to throw out an occasional stuffed cow or rubber squid. Lovely memories!;-)
