'Our Town' brings a lump to my throat, as does 'The Band Played Waltzing Matilda' - which I sing, & not without losing what limited talent I have, either, due to choking up a bit.

I'm not a great lover of Iris DeMents voice either, though she sings some fantastic stuff & is worth a listen for that alone, with the voice being no actual detriment.

For me the finest rendition of 'Our Town' is by a young English lass called Kate Rusby....to hear her do it you would believe that the 'Town' in the title WAS her home town of Barnsley! Am I right Mr. Andrews, Sir? I also have to ask if you recorded it yourself? That would CERTAINLY be worth hearing! (& I second your opinion on 'Northern Exposure' too)

What say you Ickle Dorrit? Does Kate singing it please you better?

(& i better point out to you 'Colonial' folks that the Hull I & Ickle Dorrit hail from is in England, & not the one in Canada or the 'more than one' in the States! *G*)
