The day had finally arrived!!

Gently removing the new uniform from its box, he checked one more time for all the pieces, and one by one, put them on. Proudly admiring his reflection in the full-length mirror, he saw a picture of power, confidence and strength.

At the field, he took his place on the bench... watching....waiting.....

First inning..... second..... third......

Seventh inning.... still waiting..... expectation dwindling into faint hope, he enthusiastically cheered his teammates on.

Then it was over. Pausing momentarily, he blinked hard, then rose from the bench, and strode out to congratulate his team. Maybe next time.
