"Somebody Bring Me Some Water" by Melissa Ethridge. Yeah, she belts it out and plays pretty well, but that's just misdirection. What about the internal logic of the song? Ok, she's "burning alive" because "can't you see my baby's got another lover and I don't know how I'm gonna survive." So she's burning, metaphorically, (I get that) with jealousy, and what does she crave? Water. Nothing else will do. Metaphorical jealousy produces physical thirst for water. Anyone else ever been so jealous it made them thirsty for water? Me either. I used to think I had to be missing something, but that song is just wrong.
