Thread Name: Songs about boats, No disasters!
Subject: RE: Songs about boats, No disasters!
How about Lorre Wyatt's "Somos El Barco?" (I think this is in the DT. You can also find it on Peter, Paul & Mary's website.) The chorus is: "Somos el barco, somos el mar. Yo navego en ti, tu navegas en mi. We are the boat, we are the sea; I sail in you, you sail in me."

Then there's a French-Canadian rowing song, "C'est L'Aviron" (The chorus, roughly, means "We pull the oars," and the verses are about finding romance.)

Also, "The Water is Wide, I cannot cross o'er, and neither have I wings to fly. Build me a boat that can carry two, and both shall row, my love and I. "There is a ship and she sails the sea. She's loaded deep as deep can be, but not so deep as the love I'm in. I know not if I sink or swim." In this song, it is the singer's love life, not the boat or ship, that meets disaster.
